SEIDEL CLAIMS TITLES
Erik Seidel claimed yet another title to his illustrious list of titles. His journey to the top in this two-day tournament wasn't an easy one and the given the caliber of the field, it didn't seem likely that anyone could quickly build a chip lead and run away with the title. Seidel's surge began when he was one of the short stacks when action resumed on Day 2 with 17 players left. According to the World Poker Tour, when the cards hit the air, Seidel instantly made his move, doubling through Dan Shak. Shak chipped back up to become one of the chip leaders with 14 to go, then gave it all to Seidel when he moved all-in on the river on a board of J-8-3-2-3. Seidel made the call with pocket queens and with only J-9, Shak was knocked out in 11th.
Second in chips to Justin Bonomo as the final 10-handed table was reached, Seidel continued to chip up knocking out Rick Solomon in 10th. Bonomo eliminated Ashton Griffin in eighth and for a moment, Seidel showed he was human by making a mistake and calling down Daniel Negreanu on a Kh-Qh-Jh-10h-8s board. Negreanu tabled Ah-9h for his first career royal flush and Seidel dropped in the chip counts.
