SEIDEL WINS MORE
Erik Seidel continued his impressive as he won yet more money in a poker tournament. Who knew that January would be one of the most memorable months the poker industry has seen in a very long time? It all began as players headed down to the Bahamas to kick off the year at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. On Paradise Island we watched Galen Hall become a superstar in front of our eyes on ESPN2, Eugene Katchalov defeat Daniel Negreanu in the $100,000 event and Will Molson finally overcoming the second-place curse and taking down the $25,000 high roller.
From there players were split among many locations including Australia for the Aussie Millions, the WSOP Circuit in Oklahoma, France for the European Poker Tour, or the LA Poker Classic or Borgata for preliminary events. At the Aussie Millions we witnessed the largest buy-in tournament in history at 250,000 AU$. Erik Seidel cemented his incredible month with a win in that event at $3.4 million in earnings in less than 30 days.
The cash games in Australia seemed to be a little out of control with quarter million pots flying left and right, but the same could be said for the online action where Full Tilt offered their "Double Guarantee" week where prizepools were doubled. This created incredible online action and Shaun Deeb taking down the top share of the $1.4 million prizepool in the Monday $1K for $312,000.
